RED WALL / GREEN WALL

This is an image of a red wall located in La Plata, Argentina. (6/15)

This is a red wall located in La Plata, Argentina  ( Calle 2, between 46 and 47). (6/15)

Current Google imagery of the wall. Taken and not updated since 10/13.

I did not expect to find a red wall. This is one screen cap of Google’s current imagery of  Calle 2, between 46 and 47 in La Plata, Argentina. It hasn’t been updated since 2013. Nobody I spoke to could remember the green wall, nor could they recall when the green wall was painted red- or if anything happened in between.

I designed a mural to reinsert Google's outdated imagery of the wall. Along with my collaborator, Daniel Rivera Cruz and Rodrigo Mirto one of the directors of Residencia Corazon (located next door), we pasted the mural.

This mural is composed of collaged screen selections taken from Google Street View imagery of the same location. I pasted the mural on 7/19/15 with the help of my collaborator, Daniel Rivera Cruz and Rodrigo Mirto, co-director of Residencia Corazón.

We carefully cut around the current tag and could still see traces of “The Stoner Cactus Crew” and their cactus tag which I had come to associate with the wall in the many months I spent examining  it and the surrounding area through Google Street View.
